About Melissa

By night I’m a blogger, but by day I’m a librarian working at a public library. No, I don’t read books all day, trust me I wish I did. I am a huge huge reader! There’s always a pile of books next to my bed, and I love to share my reads with you! So that’s why I post a lot of recommended books. I can’t help myself. I’m always flipping through cookbooks too for new ideas. My job at the library is still tremendously fun though, because I order the books so I get a sneak peek at new releases. I also instruct craft programs for patrons, and run the summer reading club.

Besides the baking, crafting is a huge part of my life too. I love being creative and trying new crafts out. I dabble in a lot of different things from embroidery to painting, crochet to paper quilling. I feel like I’ve tried it all! Some hobbies that really stuck though are pen paling and journaling. I am a self-confessed stationery addict. I learned how to make my own journals and I was a religious bullet journaler for a couple years. Check out my personal instagram @lissalibrarian to see my pen pal letters and bullet journal spreads beyond what I post on here.

I even turned my crafting into a small business! I got a Cricut last Christmas and started out with an Etsy sticker shop. Now I’m regularly adding new things to my shop and I’m on Redbubble too! All the things I make are focused around what I love: forests, nature, positivity, mindfulness and more.

I obviously love being in the kitchen too! I especially love baking, but cooking is quite enjoyable as well. Making dinner for my husband and I after coming home from a long day at work may seem daunting, but it actually relaxes me. It’s where I can be creative and learn new things and make amazing tasting food that makes people happy. There’s no better feeling in the world than when someone raves about my food.

You may notice most of my recipes call for coconut or plant-based milks, yogurts, and butter. I have a dairy allergy so everything I bake I modify to be dairy-free so I can eat it. I’ve recently discovered I have a sensitivity to eggs and gluten as well, so I’m transitioning over to vegan, gluten-free baking! I’ve always been into alternative and healthier baking, but these new sensitivities are really pushing me to explore healthy allergy-free baking options.

The challenges of mental health has also been a huge part of my life. I started developing chronic anxiety and panic attacks while in high school. Over the years, I’ve read and learned a lot about how to manage it and take care of myself. I wanted to share what I’ve learned because I know a lot of people struggle with this as well. I hope you can find something here that will help you or at least point you in the right direction.

I hope you enjoy everything you find here and try out one of my creations! Feedback is hugely helpful, ratings, comments and reviews on my posts mean the world to me, so more people can be exposed to my site. Thanks a million.

Lots of Love,
